July 2026 Ministry Update

Hi everyone! Sorry this update is a little late - I have big news I am excited to share! But first, here is what we have been up to at Collin FOCUS this month.

Summer TNF and Licensing Ceremony

We landed the plane for Summer TNF on June 30th. As I shared before, we spent the summer talking about maturity and it has been cool to see our students take the series to heart. It has also been a cool experience to dip my toe into the AV world some this month! I got to work the stream, slides, and sound board over the last month (pictured below), so huge shoutout to my coworkers Drew and Laurence for showing me the ropes!

Our last Summer TNF also served as our licensing ceremony where our recommitting missionaries pledge to serve God and their respective campuses in front of our students. It is one of my favorite events of the year - it is powerful to me seeing my coworkers follow the calling God has given them to love on college students! Here is a picture of my coworkers (I committed for two years last summer, so I am grandfathered in and not pictured below) as well as a shot of our apprentices from the year - our first year staff members:

Staff Retreat

We spent this past week at a staff conference/retreat getting to worship, study Scripture, receive training, go through some Spiritual workshops, and bond as a staff. It was a sweet experience and a great way to refocus before the school year gets going here in a couple of weeks! We spent a lot of time looking at 2 Timothy 2:1-10 and I am excited to take a sacrificial mindset into Welcome Week and into my time with new students. Here is a picture of our staff - I am blessed to work with some really awesome people!!

A Special Announcement!

I am sure some of you have heard already, but I proposed to my now-fiancé Madison! We first met when we both started working for FOCUS and while she transitioned off of staff at the beginning of this summer getting to do ministry together was the joy of a lifetime and I am blessed she said yes! Here are some pictures!!

Thank you!

As always, thank you so much for partnering with me in campus ministry! It is a huge blessing having you be a part of my life and a part of what God is doing at Collin. Thanks to you I hit my fundraising goal for the summer, so I am excited to hit the campus ready to go and focused on introducing students to our amazing, generous savior!

As I shared, we talked about 2 Timothy 2:1-10 at our staff retreat and the last couple of verses really touched my heart:

"Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel, for which I am suffering, bound with chains as a criminal. But the word of God is not bound! Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory."
- 2 Timothy 2:8-10

I am excited to introduce students to the risen Jesus, unbound and risen from the dead and ready with open arms to bring them a new and full life with Him!

Thank you so much again for partnering with me! If this is your first time receiving this email, a browser version of this blog and the rest of the blog posts I have made this year are available at http://mick.mcafoose.anyfocus.org/. In Christ,
