May 2026 Ministry Update

     Hi everyone! I hope you are staying cool as summer approaches! Here is a little bit of what we have been up to at Collin FOCUS!

SICM

    Each year we send a group of students from each of our campuses across the DFW up to Washington State for SICM (Student Institute of Campus Ministry) - a week-long conference where students spend time learning about how to effectively reach their peers. I got to tag along with Denzel and Ranjeev, two Collin students that have been a big part of our ministry this year and will potentially serve as leaders this fall! We learned a lot about evangelism, spiritual friendship, studying Scripture, and the nitty gritty of leading a Bible study group on campus. Seeing them excited about ministry was such a breath of fresh air for me - I love getting to partner with students as God works through them to reach our campus! Here are some pictures from the conference and the couple of days we spent in Seattle!

End of Year Formal

    We also hosted a formal to celebrate the end of the school year with the students in our Collin ministry. It was a special time to honor our student leaders, thank our student volunteers on our worship and AV teams, and to celebrate those graduating from Collin and moving on to university. It made for some bittersweet moments - I am excited for some of the guys I have spent the year studying the Bible with to go finish their degrees, but I am going to miss them a whole lot too! Please be praying for our ministry - both for students that are staying and those moving on - that God will continue to bear fruit in their lives! Here are some pics!

Thank you - and a big prayer request!

    Thank you so much for making another year of ministry possible! I feel so blessed to get to share Jesus with these students and see Him at work in their lives. God is moving on campus and I am so excited to see what He will continue to do! Here is Psalms 46:8-10 -

“Come, behold the works of the Lord,
how he has brought desolations on the earth.
He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
he breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
he burns the chariots with fire.
“'Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!'”

    I feel as though I have gotten to behold the work of the Lord in these students' lives and I am so grateful! His Spirit is the one doing the heavy lifting and I am honored to be used in the process of making and maturing disciples.

    Summer also marks a season of support raising for the work I get to do on campus - we fundraise a salary similar to overseas missionaries. I have been praying for God to continue to bring to mind family and friends who have a heart for college students that would be willing to partner with me. If you have people in your life who you think would be interested in hearing more about the Collin ministry, would you please let me know? I would love to connect and share about what God has been up to! Would you also please be in prayer that I would be able to hit my fundraising goal for this coming school year?

    Thank you so much again for partnering with me! If this is your first time receiving this email, a browser version of this blog and the rest of the blog posts I have made this year are available at http://mick.mcafoose.anyfocus.org/. Attached below is Ranjeev's testimony, a student from our Collin ministry! Go Coogs!

In Christ,
Mick
